Jacob & Co. 5 Time Zone Watch

Concours du Temps represents Swiss Packaging’s approach to watch brand development—built on the experience and success of launching and evolving Jacob & Co., alongside other select watch projects.

It began in the Diamond District — it became Swiss

Swiss Packaging brought Jacob & Co. into the international watchmaking market, establishing its presence at Baselworld and laying the foundation for its position within high luxury.

Jacob & Co.’s entry into Baselworld was not inevitable. Swiss Packaging made it possible —through structure, risk, and execution at Swiss standards.

Swiss Brand Creation & Execution

Swiss Packaging engineered the operational foundation behind the brand—integrating design, manufacturing, presentation systems, and global execution into a structure capable of operating at Swiss standards.

An international sales director was identified, recruited, and personally trained prior to engagement with the client—bringing structured retail experience from European electronics distribution and global brand environments.

Swiss Packaging secured access to ETA movements through business partners during a period of restricted supply, ensuring continuity of production at a critical stage of development.

Product engineering was fundamentally redefined, transforming early-stage construction into Swiss-standard watchmaking—both technically and perceptually. Core structural components were upgraded from basic materials to precious metal assemblies, significantly improving durability and perceived value.

The product architecture evolved from multi-quartz configurations to mechanical automatic movements, culminating in the development of an Automatic Five Time Zone watch incorporating newly introduced complications under licensed Swiss movement technology. Early product programs were developed and manufactured, including the brand’s first women’s watch—establishing initial product range expansion and market positioning.

Geneva

Cultural Integration & Market Legitimacy

Swiss Packaging established a formal presence for the brand in Geneva, recognizing that participation in the Swiss watch industry requires more than product—it requires cultural legitimacy.

Rue du Rhône in Geneva, Switzerland—one of the world’s leading luxury retail streets. Swiss Packaging established Jacob & Co.’s first Swiss address here, positioning the brand within the Swiss watchmaking ecosystem and luxury retail network.

A Geneva office was created by Swiss Packaging, providing the brand with a Swiss identity and the credibility necessary to engage with established suppliers and industry networks.

This strategic foundation enabled direct access to the Swiss watchmaking ecosystem, allowing the brand to operate within its cultural and professional framework.

Execution & Completion

The flagship retail environment, originally designed by Arnell, had stalled prior to completion. Swiss Packaging was engaged to assume full responsibility for delivering the project under immovable time constraints.

The result was a unified visual identity where every element—from display to box—spoke the same design language.

This work did not follow the original design—it resolved it.

A distinct visual language was developed and deployed across product, packaging, and retail—establishing a recognizable identity that influenced subsequent collections.

Developing and Supporting International Brands

Swiss Packaging develops brands over time—combining strategy, network, and execution to establish credibility within the highest levels of luxury.

Jacob & Co. is a direct result of this approach.

Swiss Packaging brings deep luxury branding expertise—refined through experience, informed by instinct, and proven through execution.

At the time, the watches themselves did not yet reflect the standards of Swiss haute horlogerie, creating a degree of uncertainty within the Swiss industry. Swiss Packaging addressed this through positioning, presentation, and network.

The association with Jorg Hysek—one of the most recognized designers of the period—brought immediate credibility and visibility. His presence at the stand attracted leading figures in watchmaking, including Gérald Genta and Daniel Roth, along with numerous independent watchmakers and industry collaborators.

This convergence established Jacob & Co. within the Swiss watchmaking conversation, enabling relationships that would form the foundation of its future development. Swiss Packaging’s network, positioning, and execution transformed initial uncertainty into engagement at the highest level of the industry.

The development of Jacob & Co extended beyond the watch itself. In collaboration with Swiss Packaging, the brand’s packaging, retail presentation, and visual environment were developed as a unified system, supporting its transition into a Swiss luxury watchmaker.
